Eurofighter Typhoon and Dassault Rafale leading the race for India MRCA Deal Video

After exhaustive trials of six fighter jets, Indian Air Force (IAF) has made its choice clear to the Government on the kind of fighter jets needed. Front runners for the force are French fighter Dassault Rafale and the Eurofighter Typhoon built by the European consortium. Bernhard Gerwert, Chief, EADS, says "If you are taking into account the portfolio of EADS we can bring the bridge between civil aviation and military aviation." But the Americans and Russians have lost out. Boeing's F18 no longer a frontrunner and Sweden's Gripen too falling off the Indian radar.

Despite MiG 35s big thunder, its engine failing to impress while the F-16, according to the IAF has no future. Another reason favoring Rafale and Euro fighter is political. Thomas Matussek, German Ambassador, "We regard India as a strategic security partner and this is why we do not insist on an end user monitoring agreement period." So when the mother of all defence deals is signed for the 126 Multi-Role Combat Aircraft either Rafale or the Euro fighter will fly away with the Rs 42,000 crore deal.

India Su-30MKI is ...
India Su-30MKI is better than Chinese J-11B/BH & Su-30MKK. India Teja, upgrade Mig-29B, Mig-29K w/ French TopSight E Helmet, & upgrade Mirage 2000 is better than J-10A/B/FC-20, FC-1/JF-17, J-8II, & J-15. An also in the future the? MCA 5th Gen. Stealth Multirole fighters is going be better than J-18.

I would pick the ...
I would pick the Dassault Rafale as the winner is because is cheaper than Typhoon. The Rafale cost about $80 million compare to Typhoon $123 million. What does India going use Typhoon for in combat? The Eurofighter? Typhoon is a big fighter like the Su-30. The Indian air force doesn't need another big fighters.

@TRGnoobie Military ...
@TRGnoobie Military analysts have also rated our airforces as one of the strongest in? the region, so even though we may not be able to project power, we can more than defend ourselves against most aggressors in our region. So, the Singapore airforce may not be a big player, but its definitely a good one. Lastly, the Typhoons are not widely used because they have not been deployed widely by UK, and not many foreign countries have purchased it yet. Get your facts right, and reply me again.

Secondly, you ...
Secondly, you quoted operations in Kosovo, Bosnia, the Osiraq attack, which happened in the 70s and 80s. The F-22 only entered service in US in 2005, so those mean nothing. Next, US are not going to sell their F22s to foreign countries, so Israel won't have them. They are waiting for the? F-35 instead. Also, though Singapore's airforce is small, it is not a bad airforce. Our armed forces were initially trained by the Israelis and we still do today. We also train with the Americans as well.

@alinaumankhan The ...
@alinaumankhan The reason why the US in the middle east not using F22s is because they are very expensive, so there are only less than 200 in their arsenal, and they keep it for homeland defence. Also, F22s would be subject to combat and the rough conditions of fighting, and there is a higher chance, even with stealth, that? they may get damaged or shot down. the reason why the US did not use it in Libya no fly zone was because F-22s are land based, not carrier based.

@alinaumankhan ...
@alinaumankhan Why are u getting so excited.Your F-16s source codes are already? known to us via Israel.Your better off retiring them and using the money on Chinese J-10,JF-17 etc not that those aircraft have any hope against mki but atleast they'll be able to launch missiles over Indian territory in a major war...

idiot?
idiot?

Eurofighter has ...
Eurofighter has been using? 360 degree AESA tech for the past 10 years!

Both the rafale and ...
Both the rafale and the eurofighter are very much? higher than the actual budget arent they ??

@TRGnoobie dude ...
@TRGnoobie dude the singapur airforce has no major role in the world. Just consider gud examples. in serbian war, kosvo liberation, bosnian conflict, gulf war, afghan and iraq war, 1981 ossiraq operation, 2006 lebonan war and nowadays in libya the nato and its alies are using only f? 16s. u will find no f22s there. only a small role is being played by typhoons.

@alinaumankhan ...
@alinaumankhan However the F-16s are getting very aged. The F-16 was born about the same time as the F-15. Yes, F-15s has had an illustrious history, but in recent simulated exercises, the F-15 was shown to be less capable than its modern counterparts. In another example, during Singapore's choosing for a new aircraft, a? single Eurofighter took down 3 Singapore F-16s in a simulated dogfight. In the end, Singapore bought the F-15s instead.

@Mindfreak103 at ...
@Mindfreak103 at present the USAF might consider to retire its f 18s but this will still take about 15 years. yes, its true that f 16s are of 1970s origin but they are much more advance today as compared to those of 70s era. according to USAF and almost all the users of F 16s like turkey,greece,Pakistan,Israel etc the F 16s is performing? the mainstream role . USAF has also said that f 16 is the best and most reliable jet in their inventory.

@Mindfreak103 ...
@Mindfreak103 hahahahahahahahaahhahah u must be kidding man. F-16s and F 18s can only be retired from the? USAF untill and unless it has a proper alternative. The USAF has only 160 F22s and only 187 are planned. The latest project is F 35 but it has about 10 partners. so if USA ever decided to retire its fleet of F 16s and F 18 then they must have about 2000 F 22s and F 35s ready in line to fill their gap. but this will take about 20-30 years or even more for their production.

@alinaumankhan Kid ...
@alinaumankhan Kid they said it has no future . The f-16 is being retired from the usaf while f-18? will retire in about 5 years .

what !!!!! F -16s ...
what !!!!! F -16s have no future ???? the IAF must be? fooling its people. F-16 is in use with the airforces of more than 25 countires. Even the no 1 air power the USA has 1200 f-16 in its arsenal.

Ask any IAF oficer ...
Ask any IAF oficer the power of a Dassault Mirage 2000 as a multirole (Kargil War won thanks to Mirage? 2000), then you will understand why IAF will trust Dassault Rafale for there next main Multirole Fighter . The only thing at which Eurofighter is better is the cruising Speed of Mach 2 (Mach 1.8 for Rafale). But the Eurofighters maneuverability and Weapons systems are way inferior to the Rafale Ones (Proven during the Libya conflicts)...Eurofighter can't even drop a nuclear bomb on its own.

Rafale is the only ...
Rafale is the only "true multirole" Fighter => Ground Attack (air ground? missiles), Nuclear Strikes, Accurate Bombing, Air superiority (air-to-air missiles). Rafale has great agility with all weapons loaded, stealth technology and advanced avionic systems. Can be used by Navy and operate on Aircraft Carrier. The superiority of the Rafale over the Typhoon has been proven : "2009 Solenzara - Rafale won vs Typhoon 8-1, dogfight" "2010 December, ATLC UAE, RAfale won vs eurofighter 7-1 two round"

Fingers crossed the ...
Fingers crossed the EF wins. Would be interesting to see those thrust vectoring nozzles on the? EF.

@dj8work You? means ...
@dj8work You? means the 8-1 during the dogfight in UAE ? where the Rafale win ;) ?

Agreed.? Italy ...
Agreed.? Italy blocked India's UNSC proposition. Eurofighter should be dumped as it shall bring more than 4-5 countries to deal with on political ends. Besides, India already uses French mods and planes and has a trained force to deal with the issues. BTW, Rafale is also economical.

@dj8work sorry but ...
@dj8work sorry but your link dosen't work, but I know this? test. i insist there was a test fair or not faire un UAE and i have some links to proove it: lemamouth.blogspot.com/2009/12/la-raf-nest-plus-ce-quelle-est.html secretdefense.blogs.liberation.fr/defense/2009/12/carton-plein-pour-le-rafale-lors-dexercices-aux-emirats.html

@titiboo90 artical by jon lake whos a reporter? ht tp:/ /typhoon.starstreak.ne t/ forum/ viewtopic.pn hp?f=1&p=12819 how can i proove a fair fight that hasnt happened? the only test between the eurofighter and rafale which might of been fair was this one. Flug Revue" reports that in 2008 German Typhoon were pitted against French Rafales. The results are said to be "extremely gratifying", the main difference being the "much greater thrust of the EJ200 engine.

@dj8work loool of ...
@dj8work loool of course but proove it, and in UAE the rafale F3 performances were lowered at the F1 Standard so... it doesn't change? anything... you say it: there hasnt been a true fair test between the two which has been published proove it, I have some links about it.
